Crowd1 was a UAE-registered pyramid scheme that primarily targeted Africa, promising returns from online gaming and marketing packages. Swedish police investigated it as 'a classic pyramid scheme.' BBC Africa Eye produced a documentary exposing the operation. The scheme had no real underlying product — returns came entirely from new recruit payments. Registered in the UAE to exploit the jurisdiction's prestige while targeting vulnerable populations in developing countries.
